I hope I made myself clear as to what I'm envisioning. Or do something similar to Front Page where the folders and files are behind the scenes and are only accessed by clicking a link. What I am proposing is that we have a directory structure which allows us to create folders on the main page in which we can drag folders into and perhaps have a + or - to open the directory to view the files. I know I can turn them off, but that creates a problem for access to the student.
